#6 of 9 hotels in Belvedere & Hauptbahnhof by Axel's take. Belvedere & Hauptbahnhof is #8 of 10 places to stay in Vienna. The best hotels in Belvedere & Hauptbahnhof, ranked · Where to stay in Vienna

Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong station-side choice for clean, comfortable basics and easy connections. A practical 3-star economy hotel beside Vienna Central Station, scored for what it is.

Ibis Wien Hauptbahnhof is a practical 3-star economy hotel that gets the essentials right. It's a strong pick for arriving by train: the station is across the street, Belvedere is walkable, and public transport makes sightseeing straightforward. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and a generous breakfast. For a simple city base, it delivers good value without pretending to be anything grander.

The trade-off is a functional room rather than somewhere to linger, with no refrigerator and limited extras. Staff feedback is mostly warm, although several Tripadvisor guests describe uneven check-in experiences. A cluster of August 2026 Accor reviews also mentions an unpleasant lobby smell, against otherwise strong cleanliness feedback. We'd choose it for transport convenience; skip it if historic surroundings and substantial hotel facilities matter more.

  • Best for: Travelers arriving by train; Short sightseeing breaks; Value-minded solo travelers and couples

  • Watch out for: Basic rooms without refrigerators; Occasional check-in friction; Lobby odor reported by several August 2026 guests

  • Location: Across from the main station, with easy transit connections and Belvedere within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned and generally quiet; comfortable beds earn frequent praise.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, despite a recent cluster of complaints about lobby odor.

  • Service: Usually friendly and helpful, with some recurring criticism of check-in.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast and self-service snacks and drinks; not a full-service hotel.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; parking and pets carry charges.
