#9 of 9 hotels in Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse by Axel's take. Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse is #4 of 10 places to stay in Vienna. The best hotels in Mariahilf & Mariahilfer Strasse, ranked · Where to stay in Vienna

Axel's take: 7.2/10

Choose it for transport convenience, not four-star polish. A dated 4-star station hotel with basic budget rooms, scored for what it is.

Mercure Wien Westbahnhof is a dated 4-star station hotel whose strongest selling point is convenience. We'd consider it for a short city break or a Stadthalle concert: Westbahnhof's trains, underground and trams are close, and Mariahilfer Straße is an easy walk. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise the location, helpful staff and cleanliness; breakfast also earns plenty of positive mentions.

The catch is inconsistent room quality. Recent reviews across sites repeatedly describe tired furniture and bathrooms, with some reporting noise and maintenance problems. Accor explicitly says Budget Twin rooms lack full air conditioning, a safe, minibar and kettle, so check the category rather than trusting the general amenities list. It's a practical base if transport matters more than décor. We'd skip it for a polished four-star stay or if reliable cooling and quiet are priorities.

Best for: Short breaks using public transport; Westbahnhof rail travelers; Stadthalle concertgoers
Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven maintenance; Budget Twin rooms lack full air conditioning; Noise in some rooms
Location: Excellent transport access beside Westbahnhof, with shopping and Stadthalle within walking distance.
Rooms: Room categories differ substantially; tired furnishings, bathroom wear and noise recur in guest feedback.
Cleanliness: Generally well rated, though recent Accor reviews show some housekeeping lapses.
Service: Helpful reception staff are a recurring strength, with occasional reports of uneven service.
Amenities: Restaurant, bar, buffet breakfast and free Wi-Fi; cooling and in-room equipment depend on category.
Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; breakfast may be additional, and Budget Twin rooms omit several standard amenities.
