#3 of 6 hotels in Schonbrunn & Hietzing by Axel's take. Schonbrunn & Hietzing is #9 of 10 places to stay in Vienna. The best hotels in Schonbrunn & Hietzing, ranked · Where to stay in Vienna

Axel's take: 8.3/10

A dependable, good-value base if you're happy taking the subway into central Vienna. A family-run 3-star in western Vienna, near the U3, scored for what it is.

Hotel Lucia is a family-run 3-star that gets the important basics right: clean rooms, helpful staff and a breakfast guests consistently appreciate. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia feedback broadly agrees on those strengths. We'd pick it for a straightforward Vienna city break rather than a hotel-centered stay. Johnstraße's U3 station is a short walk away, making the location more convenient than its distance from the historic center suggests.

The compromises are mostly practical: decor varies between rooms, and several guests flag traffic noise in street-facing rooms, particularly with windows open. Request a courtyard-facing room if sleep is your priority. Breakfast isn't included in every booking, and limited parking costs extra. We'd skip it if you want Vienna's main sights outside your door or a particularly stylish hotel.

  • Best for: Value-minded city-break travelers; Sightseers comfortable using public transport; Wiener Stadthalle concertgoers

  • Watch out for: Traffic noise in street-facing rooms; Some rooms look dated; Breakfast inclusion varies; parking is limited and paid

  • Location: Outside the historic center, with Johnstraße U3 and tram connections a short walk away.

  • Rooms: Practical, air-conditioned rooms; decor varies, and courtyard-facing rooms are the better quiet-room request.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Guests repeatedly praise friendly reception staff and helpful sightseeing advice.

  • Amenities: Breakfast buffet, courtyard, free Wi-Fi and afternoon/evening lobby tea; 24-hour reception.

  • Fees and surprises: Check whether breakfast is included; reserve paid parking ahead, and expect an extra charge for airport transfers.
