#8 of 9 hotels in Neubau & Spittelberg by Axel's take. Neubau & Spittelberg is #3 of 10 places to stay in Vienna. The best hotels in Neubau & Spittelberg, ranked · Where to stay in Vienna

Axel's take: 7.6/10

A strong sightseeing base, but renovation disruption makes it a conditional pick. An upscale city hotel near Vienna’s Rathaus, transitioning to The Cloud One, scored for what it is.

Flemings is an upscale city hotel behind Vienna’s Rathaus, with an excellent setup for sightseeing: nearby trams and the U-Bahn, neighborhood cafés, and an easy walk toward the historic center. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean, comfortable rooms, often noting generous space. It’s a good base for travelers who prioritize location over full-service polish.

The catch is its conversion to The Cloud One Wien-Rathaus, confirmed by Motel One. Guests staying through September 2026 report renovation noise, disrupted public areas and occasionally incomplete room furnishings; confirm the work schedule before booking. Many existing rooms have clear-glass showers exposed to the bedroom, so privacy is another genuine consideration. Breakfast and service draw mixed recent feedback. We’d skip it for a quiet retreat or a room shared with someone who wants bathroom privacy.

  • Best for: Sightseeing-focused couples; Solo city-break travelers; Travelers using public transport

  • Watch out for: Renovation disruption reported through September 2026; Exposed glass showers in many rooms; Uneven recent breakfast and service feedback

  • Location: Behind Rathaus, with trams and the U-Bahn nearby and central sights walkable.

  • Rooms: Generally comfortable and spacious; check shower privacy and whether your room is fully finished.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com ratings and recent Expedia feedback.

  • Service: Many helpful-staff reports, alongside recent complaints about reception and breakfast handling.

  • Amenities: The official site lists fitness and sauna facilities; confirm availability during renovation.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; standard housekeeping is every other day, with daily cleaning available on request.
