#8 of 9 hotels in Cannaregio by Axel's take. Cannaregio is #3 of 8 places to stay in Venice. The best hotels in Cannaregio, ranked · Where to stay in Venice

Axel's take: 8.1/10

Venetian character and superb waterbus access, with some rooms needing attention. a traditional 4-star palace hotel on Venice’s Grand Canal, scored for what it is.

Pesaro Palace is a traditional 4-star palace hotel in Cannaregio, strongest on atmosphere and location rather than flawless polish. The Ca’ d’Oro vaporetto stop is beside the entrance, making arrivals unusually convenient for Venice, while Rialto is an easy walk away. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise comfortable beds, helpful staff and the garden courtyard. It’s a strong pick for travelers who prefer ornate Venetian interiors to contemporary hotel design.

The compromise is uneven upkeep: several recent guests mention tired furnishings, broken fittings or bathrooms needing attention, although cleanliness feedback remains positive overall. Breakfast generally earns praise, but not consistently across sites. Classic rooms are compact, and a Grand Canal view requires booking the right category—the hotel specifies Deluxe Rooms or Suites. We’d skip it if freshly updated rooms and consistently polished four-star standards matter more than character and convenience.

  • Best for: couples who enjoy traditional Venetian decor; sightseers using the vaporetto; travelers prioritizing a Grand Canal address

  • Watch out for: uneven room maintenance; compact Classic rooms without canal views; confirm room layout for mobility needs

  • Location: On the Grand Canal beside Ca’ d’Oro’s waterbus stop, within walking distance of Rialto.

  • Rooms: Ornate, individually arranged rooms; Classic rooms are approximately 15 square meters, and upkeep varies.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by some recent reports of dirty or worn room details.

  • Service: Usually praised as helpful and courteous, with occasional less-helpful front-desk encounters.

  • Amenities: Private garden, water-taxi landing, breakfast buffet, free Wi-Fi and a lift; confirm specific access requirements.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast inclusion depends on the rate; canal views are category-specific, and some layouts include internal stairs.
