#4 of 9 hotels in San Marco & Rialto by Axel's take. San Marco & Rialto is #1 of 8 places to stay in Venice. The best hotels in San Marco & Rialto, ranked · Where to stay in Venice
Axel's take: 9.2/10
A strong luxury choice for attentive service and distinctive design, rather than canal views. a design-led five-star boutique hotel near St. Mark’s Square, scored for what it is.
Nolinski Venezia is a 43-room, five-star boutique hotel in Venice’s former stock exchange, close to St. Mark’s Square and La Fenice. It’s a strong pick if you want characterful interiors without sacrificing genuinely attentive service. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and quiet, spotless rooms; Booking.com’s particularly strong cleanliness and comfort ratings reinforce that picture. The library bar and gold-mosaic rooftop relaxation pool give this small hotel worthwhile extras.
The main compromise is practicality: several guests mention limited storage and surfaces crowded with decorative objects. This is also not the choice for classic canal-facing accommodation, and the pool is better suited to unwinding than swimming lengths. We’d choose it for a polished, intimate city break; skip it if water views or generous unpacking space are essential.
-
Best for: couples on a luxury city break; design-minded travelers; sightseeing and luxury shopping
-
Watch out for: limited storage in some rooms; not a canal-view hotel; relaxation pool rather than a lap pool
-
Location: Central San Marco setting, convenient for St. Mark’s Square, La Fenice and designer shops.
-
Rooms: Distinctive interiors and praised beds; some layouts prioritize decoration over usable storage.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across guest feedback, including exceptionally high Booking.com cleanliness ratings.
-
Service: Warm, attentive staff and helpful concierge support are the clearest recurring positives.
-
Amenities: Library bar, dining, spa treatments and a rooftop relaxation pool overlooking Venetian rooftops.
-
Fees and surprises: Breakfast is not always included; official terms specify tourist tax and a check-in card preauthorization.
