Axel's take: 8.7/10
A strong-value Venice base for social travelers, but not for undisturbed sleep. A large, modern party hostel near Mestre station, on Venice’s mainland, scored for what it is.
Anda is a large, modern party hostel in mainland Mestre, not among Venice’s canals. It’s a strong pick for budget travelers who want easy transport and company: Mestre station is roughly five minutes away on foot, with a short train ride into historic Venice. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests broadly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and comfortable rooms. A shared kitchen, generous communal spaces and an active bar make it more than somewhere to leave your backpack.
The main compromise is sleep. The hostel explicitly advertises late events, and guests across several sites report music and hallway noise into the early hours. Dorm bunks also lack privacy curtains. Breakfast and towel rental cost extra; bring a padlock for storage. We’d skip it for a quiet romantic break or if waking up in historic Venice matters more than value and social atmosphere.
-
Best for: Solo travelers looking to meet people; Budget-minded groups and Interrailers; Travelers prioritizing rail connections
-
Watch out for: Late bar music and hallway noise; Mainland location requires transport into Venice; Dorm bunks lack privacy curtains
-
Location: Around five minutes’ walk from Mestre station; convenient connections, but outside historic Venice.
-
Rooms: Air-conditioned dorms and private rooms; useful storage, but limited bunk privacy.
-
Cleanliness: Strong ratings across major sites, reinforced by recent praise for rooms and bathrooms.
-
Service: Guests generally praise friendly reception staff and practical transport advice; reception operates around the clock.
-
Amenities: Shared kitchen, spacious social areas, bar events, laundry and optional breakfast.
-
Fees and surprises: Budget for breakfast, dorm towel rental and city tax; bring a storage padlock and expect late events.
