Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong waterfront boutique pick, provided you choose your room view carefully. An upscale waterfront boutique hotel in North Vancouver’s Shipyards, scored for what it is.

Seaside is an upscale boutique hotel in North Vancouver’s Shipyards, not downtown Vancouver, and it’s a strong pick for a comfortable waterfront base. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, modern rooms, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff. Restaurants, the waterfront and Lonsdale Quay’s SeaBus are close by, making this an appealing alternative to staying across the inlet. The rainfall showers and coastal wood detailing give the rooms character without making the hotel feel overdone.

Choose the room category carefully: standard Deluxe rooms have limited views, and even Shipyards rooms can face residences rather than open water. Some guests find entry-level rooms compact. Parking and pets cost extra, and the hotel’s fitness recommendations are off-site. We’d choose it for couples and North Shore exploring; skip it if walking straight into downtown attractions or having extensive on-site leisure facilities matters most.

• Best for: Couples seeking a waterfront base; North Shore explorers; Travelers happy to use the SeaBus

• Watch out for: Water views depend on room category; Some entry-level rooms feel compact; Parking and pet charges

• Location: Walkable Shipyards setting near restaurants and the SeaBus; across the inlet from downtown Vancouver.

• Rooms: Modern coastal styling and rainfall showers; standard Deluxe rooms have limited views.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong praise across recent guest reviews, backed by high cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength, particularly for local advice and personal assistance.

• Amenities: Restaurant, spa, free Wi-Fi and complimentary bikes; the official fitness page points to nearby facilities.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking, valet parking and pets carry charges; book the specific view you want.
