Axel's take: 8.0/10

A convenient airport-area resort with spacious rooms, family appeal and some dated edges. a 4-star casino resort near Vancouver airport in Richmond, scored for what it is.

River Rock is a 4-star casino resort in Richmond, not downtown Vancouver, and it's a strong pick for an airport stopover or casino weekend. Bridgeport SkyTrain access makes getting to the airport and city straightforward. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and helpful staff; Booking.com also scores cleanliness and comfort strongly. The indoor pool with waterslide gives families a reason to book beyond the casino.

The catch is uneven room condition: several recent Tripadvisor guests describe tired furniture and maintenance shortcomings, so don't expect uniformly polished four-star surroundings. Standard Hotel Tower rooms are across from the main resort, linked by a skybridge. There's a daily resort fee and an extra charge for credit-card payments. Expedia listed dining-venue renovations through October 18, 2026, with completion subject to change; confirm they're finished. We'd skip it for a downtown sightseeing trip or a consistently upscale retreat.

• Best for: airport stopovers with easy rail access; casino and show weekends; families wanting a pool and waterslide

• Watch out for: dated furnishings in some rooms; daily resort fee and credit-card payment charge; Hotel Tower rooms across from the main resort

• Location: On the Fraser River in Richmond beside Bridgeport Station; convenient for YVR, but not a downtown base.

• Rooms: Spacious rooms and suites earn praise, though recent Tripadvisor reviews flag worn furnishings and uneven upkeep.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall on Expedia and Booking.com, despite some recent Tripadvisor complaints.

• Service: Recent Expedia guests regularly praise helpful staff; complaint handling gets less consistent feedback on Tripadvisor.

• Amenities: Indoor pool with waterslide, hot tub, gym, spa, casino, dining and live entertainment.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee, credit-card payment charge and check-in deposit; confirm dining work scheduled to end October 18, 2026 is complete.
