Axel's take: 7.7/10

A practical downtown base, with helpful staff but frustrating elevator problems. A simple 3-star hotel in downtown Vancouver’s entertainment district, scored for what it is.

Grand Park is a simple 3-star downtown hotel that makes more sense for exploring Vancouver than spending the day indoors. It’s a good pick if location and practical comforts matter more than polished interiors. Booking.com and Expedia guests generally praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and convenient setting near Yaletown. The rooftop lounge, shared kitchen and outdoor terrace add useful space beyond the rooms.

The trade-off is an aging building with uneven upkeep. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly report slow elevators and one lift out of service, with complaints continuing into October 2026. Rooms often earn cleanliness praise, but worn corridors and occasional housekeeping misses temper the picture. Parking costs extra, and Expedia lists a security deposit. We’d skip it for a polished hotel experience—or if dependable elevator access is essential.

• Best for: Sightseers prioritizing a downtown location; Travelers who appreciate a shared kitchen; Short stays near Yaletown

• Watch out for: Repeated elevator outages and long waits; Dated interiors and uneven upkeep; Paid parking and a security deposit

• Location: Convenient for Yaletown, restaurants and downtown exploring; location scores strongly with guests.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and some kitchenette options, but condition varies and interiors can feel dated.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive room feedback, with occasional floor-cleaning misses and worn common areas.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a consistent strength across Booking.com and Expedia.

• Amenities: Rooftop terrace, communal kitchen and attached White Spot; confirm gym access after reported interruptions.

• Fees and surprises: Parking generally costs extra; Expedia lists a security deposit, and recent guests repeatedly flag elevator downtime.
