Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong waterfront choice for service and cruise convenience, with renovations to check. A full-service upscale waterfront hotel opposite Vancouver’s cruise terminal, scored for what it is.

Fairmont Waterfront is a full-service upscale hotel opposite Canada Place, and a strong pick for cruise departures or a comfortable downtown base. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean, spacious rooms and harbour views. The heated rooftop pool adds appeal, while complimentary cruise-luggage transfers make embarkation easier. We'd choose it for attentive service and convenience rather than uniformly cutting-edge rooms.

Room condition is the main distinction: the hotel completed 96 renovated rooms in April 2026, but recent guests still describe some older rooms as dated. Its announced fall 2026 renovation program includes more rooms, Fairmont Gold, the pool area, lobby and ARC Restaurant + Bar; confirm work and facility availability for your dates. Parking and breakfast cost extra. We'd skip it if you want guaranteed quiet or a fully refreshed luxury experience.

• Best for: Cruise passengers; Convention visitors; Travelers prioritizing harbour views and service

• Watch out for: Fall 2026 renovation program; Not all rooms have been refreshed; Parking and breakfast charges

• Location: Opposite Canada Place, with Waterfront Station and waterfront walks close by.

• Rooms: Spacious and comfortable overall; request a renovated room and book the view category carefully.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across Tripadvisor and Expedia, including recent verified stays.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a consistent strength; occasional check-in delays appear in reviews.

• Amenities: Heated rooftop pool, indoor hot tub, gym and ARC dining; confirm renovation-related availability.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast are extra; room Wi-Fi is complimentary for ALL loyalty members.
