Axel's take: 8.6/10

A strong budget beach base, with friendly staff and compact container rooms. a simple 3-star container hotel a short walk from Galu Beach, scored for what it is.

Boxo Diani is a simple 3-star hotel built from converted shipping containers, and we'd pick it for a good-value beach break rather than a resort experience. Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests consistently praise the cleanliness, comfortable beds and welcoming staff. Air-conditioned rooms, a small pool and beach access through neighboring Lala Galu make the basics work particularly well for budget-minded couples and solo travelers.

The trade-off is space: the rooms are compact, and Boxo sits behind the beachfront rather than directly on the sand. Breakfast gets mixed feedback, with limited choices a recurring criticism, while recent guests on multiple sites report patchy in-room Wi-Fi. We'd skip it if you need dependable connectivity for work, generous room space or full-service resort dining; otherwise, it delivers well for its class.

  • Best for: budget-minded beach travelers; solo travelers; couples happy with simple rooms

  • Watch out for: compact container rooms; patchy in-room Wi-Fi; limited breakfast choices

  • Location: Short beach walk through Lala Galu; not directly on the beachfront.

  • Rooms: Simply furnished containers with air conditioning, private showers and comfortable beds; space is limited.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor feedback.

  • Service: Warm, helpful staff are the clearest recurring highlight.

  • Amenities: Small outdoor pool, FATFATs restaurant and bar, free Wi-Fi and free parking.

  • Fees and surprises: Published rules specify cashless payment and extra housekeeping charges; confirm current terms and breakfast inclusions.
