#5 of 7 hotels in Aldea Zamá by Axel's take. Aldea Zamá is #2 of 7 places to stay in Tulum. The best hotels in Aldea Zamá, ranked · Where to stay in Tulum
Axel's take: 8.2/10
A good-value Tulum base with a standout rooftop, but no beachfront access. a mid-range boutique hotel between Tulum town and the beach, scored for what it is.
Naala Tulum is a mid-range boutique hotel, not a beach resort, and we think it’s a strong pick for exploring Tulum without paying for a beachfront address. Its leafy courtyard and rooftop pools give it character, while Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Balcony rooms are worth considering for the extra space. Restaurants and shops nearby make the location practical.
The compromise is convenience: beach days require transport, and service isn’t uniformly slick. Recent Tripadvisor guests describe slow late-night check-in and confusion over breakfast inclusions; some guests also report sound carrying between rooms or hot-water problems. Confirm exactly what breakfast covers and whether parking costs extra. We’d skip it for a beach-first holiday or if reliable quiet matters more than rooftop lounging and value.
-
Best for: couples exploring Tulum; value-minded travelers; friends booking balcony rooms
-
Watch out for: transport needed for beach days; variable check-in and breakfast arrangements; some reports of noise and hot-water problems
-
Location: Between town and the beaches, with restaurants and shops nearby; not beachfront.
-
Rooms: Comfortable beds; balcony categories offer more space, though some guests hear neighboring rooms.
-
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Expedia, Booking.com and Tripadvisor feedback.
-
Service: Often warm and helpful, with occasional slow check-in and uneven problem handling.
-
Amenities: Rooftop pools, restaurant and bar, leafy gardens, Wi-Fi and bicycle rentals.
-
Fees and surprises: Parking can cost extra; breakfast inclusion and covered menu items need confirming.
