Novotel Toronto Centre is a renovated, full-service 4-star that gets the important things right: clean, comfortable rooms, helpful staff and a location that makes exploring easy. Union Station, St. Lawrence Market and Scotiabank Arena are all walkable. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise room space, cleanliness and welcoming service, particularly at breakfast. Add an indoor pool, hot tub and gym, and it's a strong pick for sightseeing, family trips or an overnight around a game.

The main trade-off is the lively Esplanade setting: some guests on both sites report late-night music from bars opposite, although many find their rooms quiet. Light sleepers should request a room away from the street. Breakfast earns plenty of praise but isn't included with every booking, and parking costs extra.
