Axel's take: 7.9/10

A practical Zona Río base, with stronger location than service consistency. a full-service 4-star business hotel in Zona Río, scored for what it is.

Real Inn Tijuana is a full-service 4-star business hotel whose biggest selling point is its Zona Río location, across from Plaza Río shopping center. We'd pick it for a short business or shopping trip rather than a luxury escape. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff; Booking.com feedback also favors the location. Stock Café, a bar and a gym cover the practical extras.

The catch is consistency. Tripadvisor's recent reviews are noticeably less enthusiastic, with repeated complaints about missing towels, slow responses and room maintenance; weak air-conditioning also appears in Booking.com feedback. Those issues matter at this level, even alongside plenty of satisfied guests. Breakfast and parking may cost extra, so check your booking's inclusions. We'd skip it if dependable, attentive service is more important than convenience.

• Best for: short business trips; Zona Río shopping stays; travelers prioritizing location

• Watch out for: uneven response to guest requests; room maintenance and cooling complaints; breakfast and parking may cost extra

• Location: Across from Plaza Río, convenient for Zona Río businesses, shopping and restaurants.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise, but maintenance and air-conditioning receive recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: Strong Expedia feedback overall; some Tripadvisor guests report housekeeping and towel shortcomings.

• Service: Many guests praise friendly staff, but request handling and follow-through are inconsistent.

• Amenities: Stock Café, bar, gym, free Wi-Fi and meeting facilities suit business-oriented stays.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking are listed as chargeable extras; some bookings may include them.
