#2 of 4 hotels in Downtown & Missouri State by Axel's take. Downtown & Missouri State is #1 of 5 places to stay in Springfield, Missouri. The best hotels in Downtown & Missouri State, ranked · Where to stay in Springfield, Missouri

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong downtown base with friendly staff, useful extras and compact rooms. A modern, no-frills downtown hotel near Missouri State University, scored for what it is.

Tru by Hilton Springfield Downtown is a modern, no-frills hotel that gets the important things right. We'd pick it for Missouri State visits or downtown concerts: campus, restaurants and venues are within walking distance, and parking is free. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness and welcoming staff. Included hot breakfast, an indoor pool, a gym and lobby games make it a well-rounded choice for a simple stay.

The trade-off is minimalist rooms rather than space to spread out, with limited clothes storage and no in-room coffee maker. Noise deserves consideration: some guests report traffic or sound from neighboring rooms, although others describe quiet stays. Pets incur a nonrefundable fee. It's a strong pick for short visits; we'd skip it if generous room space or dependable silence matters most.

Best for: Missouri State campus visits; Downtown concertgoers; Families on short stays
Watch out for: Compact rooms and limited storage; Some traffic and neighboring-room noise; Nonrefundable pet fee
