Axel's take: 7.0/10

Convenient highway stop with good breakfast, but room condition is a gamble. a no-frills, 2-star roadside motel with exterior corridors, scored for what it is.

This no-frills, 2-star roadside motel makes sense for a short Springfield stop when highway access matters more than polish. Free hot breakfast, parking and Wi-Fi cover the essentials, and guests regularly praise the breakfast and helpful staff. Expedia's overall feedback remains broadly positive, including recent reports of clean, comfortable rooms. We'd consider it for a practical overnight, rather than choose it for an extended stay.

The catch is consistency. Recent Tripadvisor and Priceline guests repeatedly describe smoke or musty odors, worn furnishings, patchy cleaning and troublesome door locks, alongside better experiences. Those aren't just cosmetic drawbacks, even at this level. Rooms open onto exterior walkways, there's no elevator, and the outdoor pool is seasonal, listed for May through August. We'd skip it if you're sensitive to smoke or need reliably fresh rooms; otherwise, inspect yours before settling in.

  • Best for: budget-minded road trippers; short stays with a car

  • Watch out for: recurring smoke and musty-odor complaints; uneven cleaning and maintenance; no elevator

  • Location: Easy US65 access, with food and shops nearby; primarily a driving base.

  • Rooms: Basic exterior-entry rooms; recent guests repeatedly flag worn furnishings and door-lock problems.

  • Cleanliness: Many clean-room reports, but recurring complaints about odors, stained furnishings and dirty floors.

  • Service: Often praised as helpful, though recent reviews also describe indifferent or rude responses.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, Wi-Fi and parking; laundry, a gym and a seasonal outdoor pool.

  • Fees and surprises: Dog fees apply; no large-truck or trailer parking, and residents within 50 miles cannot check in.
