Axel's take: 7.4/10

A practical overnight stop with comfortable beds, but uneven upkeep and no usable pool. a no-frills budget chain hotel on Riverdale Street, scored for what it is.

Best Western Springfield West Inn is a no-frills budget hotel that makes sense for a short, car-based stay near the Big E or Baystate Medical Center. We'd consider it for the comfortable beds, included breakfast and free parking rather than its looks. Expedia's 2026 reviews are largely positive about helpful staff and clean rooms, and Tripadvisor guests also praise the basics and value.

The catch is consistency: complaints across sites describe worn bathrooms, missed cleaning details and maintenance problems, even alongside plenty of satisfied stays. Some rooms also pick up road noise. Don't book expecting to swim: Booking.com says the pool is closed until further notice, while Best Western now lists no pool. It's a reasonable overnight base; we'd skip it for a longer, amenity-focused family stay.

Best for: budget-conscious overnight travelers; Big E visitors with a car; short Baystate Medical Center visits
Watch out for: no usable swimming pool; uneven housekeeping and maintenance; road noise in some rooms
Location: Practical for driving to the Big E, Baystate and nearby shops; not a downtown base.
Rooms: Comfortable beds earn praise, but bathroom wear and occasional equipment faults recur.
Cleanliness: Mostly positive recent feedback, with recurring exceptions involving missed details and bathrooms.
Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a consistent strength, though not every interaction goes smoothly.
Amenities: Breakfast, Wi-Fi, parking and a fitness center are included; do not expect a usable pool.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free; confirm check-in timing because official and booking-site listings differ.
