A strong family base for apartment space and convenience, rather than full-service hotel glamour. An upscale serviced-apartment hotel in Shanghai’s Lujiazui financial district, scored for what it is.

IFC Residence is an upscale serviced-apartment hotel in Lujiazui, and we’d pick it for space and everyday practicality over five-star hotel theatre. Studios start at 71 square metres, with kitchens and in-room laundry making longer stays easier. Recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness, helpful staff and direct IFC Mall connection. The indoor pool and easy access to metro lines 2 and 14 strengthen an already convenient family base.

The trade-off is that some furnishings and kitchen equipment are showing their age, a complaint appearing across several sites. Changing elevators at the third-floor lobby also makes coming and going less straightforward. Breakfast gets mixed verdicts, so we wouldn’t automatically add it.
