Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury choice for thoughtful design and warm service, with a few practical compromises. a nature-inspired luxury hotel in South Lake Union, scored for what it is.

1 Hotel Seattle is a nature-inspired luxury hotel in South Lake Union, remade from the former Pan Pacific and opened under its current brand in May 2025. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want comfortable rooms and contemporary design rather than traditional grandeur. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the beds, cleanliness and welcoming staff; filtered drinking water and natural materials give the rooms a distinctive character. The location works well for Amazon offices and exploring central Seattle on foot.

The compromises matter at this level: there’s no pool or spa, a daily amenity fee applies, and valet parking and breakfast cost extra. Elevator outages appear in both Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews, though the overall feedback remains strongly positive. We’d skip it if pool time or a waterfront doorstep is central to your trip.

• Best for: design-conscious couples; South Lake Union business travelers; walkable city breaks

• Watch out for: No pool or spa; Daily amenity fee and paid valet parking; Occasional reports of elevator outages

• Location: Walkable South Lake Union base near Amazon offices; the waterfront is a longer walk.

• Rooms: Natural finishes, comfortable beds and filtered drinking water; select rooms have Space Needle views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia, with particularly high cleanliness ratings.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise, although occasional problem-handling lapses appear.

• Amenities: Fitness center, La Loba restaurant, lounge and electric house car; no pool or spa.

• Fees and surprises: Daily amenity fee, paid valet and an incidental card hold; breakfast generally excluded.
