We'd pick it for a Gothenburg city break over a more anonymous chain hotel. Tripadvisor and Travelocity guests repeatedly praise the personal service, comfortable beds and included breakfast; complimentary coffee and homemade cake add genuine value. The preserved staircase and painted-glass ceiling give it character without requiring luxury-hotel expectations.
