Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Santiago base for roomy accommodation, cleanliness and easy metro access. a practical 4-star city hotel in Providencia, scored for what it is.

NH Ciudad de Santiago is a practical 4-star in Providencia, and a strong pick if you value space and convenience over elaborate facilities. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the roomy accommodation, helpful staff and cleanliness; Booking.com’s cleanliness scores reinforce that picture. Salvador metro is a short walk away, making this a useful base for sightseeing or business. Suites and family rooms are particularly worth considering when extra space matters.

The trade-off is a modest facilities offering: NH describes a gym with just three cardio machines, not a full fitness center. Breakfast generally earns praise, but it is not included in every booking, and parking and airport transfers cost extra. We’d choose it for a comfortable city stay, but skip it if extensive leisure facilities are a priority.

• Best for: families wanting extra room; metro-based sightseeing; business travelers

• Watch out for: very limited gym equipment; breakfast not always included; paid parking and airport transfers

• Location: Providencia base a short walk from Salvador metro, with restaurants and attractions accessible nearby.

• Rooms: Spacious suites and family options are a consistent strength; check the category rather than assuming every room is a suite.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Helpful, attentive staff receive considerably more praise than criticism.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar and free Wi-Fi; the gym has one treadmill and two stationary bikes.

• Fees and surprises: Check breakfast inclusion; Expedia lists additional charges for parking and airport transfers.
