Axel's take: 7.6/10

A convenient Providencia base, held back by aging rooms and unreliable Wi-Fi. An older mid-range hotel in walkable Providencia, scored for what it is.

Torremayor Lyon is an older mid-range hotel in Providencia, and we'd pick it for getting around Santiago rather than contemporary style. Los Leones metro, restaurants and shops are close, with Costanera Center within walking distance. Expedia and Trip.com guests regularly praise comfortable beds, clean rooms and helpful staff. It's a sensible base if location matters more than polished interiors.

The recurring drawbacks are maintenance and consistency: recent reviews across several sites mention weak Wi-Fi, ineffective air conditioning and tired bathroom fittings. Breakfast divides opinion, particularly on variety, and reception gets both warm praise and complaints about handling problems. The outdoor pool is seasonal; Expedia lists December through February. We'd skip it for a work trip requiring dependable internet, or if reliable cooling and fresh-looking rooms are priorities.

• Best for: Sightseers using the metro; Travelers prioritizing Providencia's restaurants and shops; Short stays with modest expectations

• Watch out for: Recurring Wi-Fi and air-conditioning complaints; Aging bathrooms and uneven maintenance; Pool listed as open December–February only

• Location: The strongest selling point: near Los Leones metro, dining and shopping, with Costanera Center walkable.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and often generous space, but dated fittings and recurring cooling problems.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive overall, although some recent guests report housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Many guests praise helpful staff; problem handling at reception is less consistent.

• Amenities: Los Arcos restaurant, bar, free advertised Wi-Fi and a seasonal outdoor pool; breakfast gets mixed feedback.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia flags possible VAT; confirm exemption documentation and payment requirements before arrival.
