Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong SFO stopover with bay views and useful extras, despite dated rooms. An independent 3-star airport hotel on the Burlingame waterfront, scored for what it is.

Bay Landing is an independent 3-star airport hotel that gets the practical things right. We'd pick it for an SFO stopover: spacious rooms, waterfront walks, and included breakfast, parking and airport transfers make it good value. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff, with Expedia reviews through October 2026 reinforcing that picture. A bay-view room adds plane-watching to an otherwise straightforward stay.

The main compromise is condition rather than comfort: recurring reviews describe old-fashioned furnishings and rooms that could use updating. Breakfast generally earns praise, though its quality divides opinion. The free shuttle follows a timetable rather than running on demand, so confirm departures around your flight. We'd skip it for contemporary interiors or a walk-out-the-door San Francisco sightseeing base.

• Best for: SFO stopovers and early departures; Travelers with a car; Bay-view plane watchers

• Watch out for: Dated furnishings and some room wear; Scheduled shuttle with limited operating hours; Outside central San Francisco

• Location: Waterfront setting near SFO, with a bayside walking path; better for airport access than city sightseeing.

• Rooms: Guests consistently describe spacious, comfortable rooms, but dated decor and wear recur in reviews.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback across sites, including recent Expedia guests.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming front-desk staff are a recurring strength across review platforms.

• Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, Wi-Fi, airport shuttle and parking, plus a fitness center and library.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists scheduled free shuttles from 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.; confirm timing, and don't assume parking covers an extended trip.
