Axel's take: 8.1/10

A dependable Condado base with rooftop perks, but beach access takes a walk. a contemporary 4-star city hotel in Condado, not a beachfront resort, scored for what it is.

This contemporary 4-star Marriott is a strong pick for exploring Condado rather than settling into a beach resort. Its rooftop pool and bar give it a useful vacation edge, while Ashford Avenue puts restaurants and cafés within easy walking distance. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness and helpful staff, and recent Expedia reviews remain reassuringly positive.

The compromises are location-specific and practical: the hotel's serviced beach area is four blocks away, and a mandatory destination fee applies, with parking charged separately. Tripadvisor and Booking.com feedback also flags loud air-conditioning and some tired room finishes, despite generally comfortable accommodation. We'd choose it for a city-and-beach break, but skip it if direct beachfront access, polished luxury or reliably quiet nights are essential.

• Best for: couples exploring Condado; travelers who prioritize walkable dining; business travelers wanting a rooftop pool

• Watch out for: four-block walk to the serviced beach area; mandatory destination fee and separate parking charges; air-conditioning noise and some worn room finishes

• Location: Central Ashford Avenue setting near dining and cafés; not beachfront.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and spacious, though guests flag noisy air-conditioning and some wear.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across the major sites and recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn frequent praise, with less consistent reports of problem resolution.

• Amenities: Rooftop pool and bar, fitness center, dining and beach-chair service subject to availability.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory nightly destination fee, paid parking and an incidental deposit; breakfast is not normally included.
