Viceroy Los Cabos is a design-led five-star beachfront resort, and we'd choose it for poolside relaxation rather than ocean swimming. Its white buildings and reflecting pools are distinctive, but the stronger selling point is consistency: recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise immaculate rooms, attentive staff and thoughtful hosts. Spacious accommodations, five pools, a spa and substantial gym give it substance beyond the photographs. The hotel says refreshed public spaces and expanded dining debuted in late September 2026; guest feedback on those changes is still limited.

The main compromises are practical. Strong currents make the beach unsuitable for swimming, restaurant and drink costs draw repeated comments, and Expedia lists a percentage-based resort fee. Downtown San José is a short ride away for meals outside the property. We'd skip it if swimming straight from the beach or keeping incidental spending predictable matters most.
