Axel's take: 9.0/10

A strong downtown pick for quiet comfort, spotless rooms and genuinely helpful service. An eco-minded 4-star boutique hotel at Chinatown’s entrance, scored for what it is.

Orchard Garden is an eco-minded 4-star boutique hotel beside Chinatown’s Dragon Gate, and a strong pick for travelers who prioritize sleep and service over elaborate facilities. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spotless rooms, comfortable beds, surprisingly quiet nights and staff who handle requests promptly. Union Square, restaurants and public transport are within walking distance. We’d choose it for a comfortable city break or downtown business stay; the rooftop terrace adds somewhere to unwind.

The trade-offs are mostly about facilities rather than recurring failures. Roots serves breakfast only, and breakfast isn’t automatically included. The gym is a small cardio studio, while drivers must arrange paid parking in nearby garages. We’d skip it if a substantial fitness center, full-service dining or on-site parking matters more than a calm, well-run base.

• Best for: Couples exploring without a car; Downtown business travelers; Travelers prioritizing quiet and cleanliness

• Watch out for: Breakfast inclusion depends on your booking; Small cardio-focused gym; Paid parking off-site

• Location: Beside Chinatown’s Dragon Gate, with Union Square and several transit options within walking distance.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, refrigerators and coffee makers; recent guests consistently describe quiet, well-maintained rooms.

• Cleanliness: A standout strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia.

• Service: Recent reviews repeatedly praise welcoming staff and quick responses to requests.

• Amenities: Rooftop terrace, free Wi-Fi, small cardio studio and breakfast-only Roots restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: No resort fee; breakfast may cost extra, and the hotel provides no parking services.
