This mid-range Courtyard occupies a former bank, giving it more character than the usual chain hotel: an impressive lobby and preserved vault doors are part of the appeal. It’s a strong pick for a downtown stay without luxury expectations. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds, while restaurants, Gaslamp nightlife and trolley connections are close by.

The trade-offs are practical. Hotel parking is paid valet only, breakfast costs extra, and there’s no swimming pool.
