Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong airport base with roomy suites and excellent rail access. a modern 3-star Marriott all-suite hotel beside Millbrae Station, scored for what it is.

This modern 3-star Residence Inn by Marriott is a strong pick for an SFO stopover or a longer Peninsula stay. The spacious suites have proper kitchens, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the included breakfast. Millbrae’s BART and Caltrain platforms are a short walk away, making a car optional. An indoor pool, gym and rooftop terrace give it more staying power than a basic airport overnight.

The practical catches are paid parking, no airport shuttle and housekeeping every other day. Noise-sensitive sleepers should ask about a quieter room: a recent Tripadvisor guest reported unusually loud air conditioning, which management acknowledged, although other recent guests describe quiet stays. We’d skip it for a sightseeing trip centered on downtown San Francisco; for airport access, family space and self-catering, it delivers very well.

• Best for: SFO stopovers without a car; families wanting kitchen-equipped suites; longer Peninsula business stays

• Watch out for: Paid parking and no airport shuttle; Housekeeping every other day; Some reports of loud air conditioning

• Location: A short walk to Millbrae BART and Caltrain; convenient for SFO, less suited to downtown-focused sightseeing.

• Rooms: Spacious studios and one-bedroom suites with equipped kitchens; air-conditioning noise affects some stays.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback and major-site category ratings.

• Service: Recent reviews predominantly praise friendly, helpful staff and straightforward check-in.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, indoor pool, fitness center, guest laundry and rooftop terrace.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets cost extra; no airport shuttle, and Marriott lists no on-site EV charging.
