A characterful Rotterdam base with excellent staff, but choose your room carefully. An independent 4-star design boutique hotel near central Rotterdam, scored for what it is.

Supernova is a 38-room, independent 4-star boutique hotel that makes a strong case for choosing personality over chain-hotel predictability. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the welcoming staff, cleanliness and distinctive interiors. We'd pick it for a Rotterdam city break: the library lounge, garden and complimentary bikes add genuine appeal, and Centraal is roughly a 15-minute walk away.

The catch is practicality. Room layouts vary considerably; some have steep internal stairs and low ceilings, while sound insulation draws occasional complaints. Guests reported lift outages in May and June 2026, so confirm access before booking if stairs are difficult. Breakfast costs extra unless included, and the hotel has no private parking.
