Axel's take: 6.9/10

An outstanding sightseeing address, but upkeep and limited service make it a qualified pick. a small, design-led guesthouse beside the Pantheon, scored for what it is.

Pantheon Relais is a small, design-led guesthouse, not a full-service hotel, and its strongest selling point is the address. You're steps from the Pantheon, with Piazza Navona, Trevi Fountain and plenty of restaurants within easy walking distance. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise that convenience; comfortable beds and distinctive rooms also earn positive mentions. It's worth considering if location matters more than hotel facilities.

The hesitation is consistency. Despite generally positive overall ratings, reviews from 2025–2026 repeatedly flag bathroom maintenance, uneven cleaning and difficulty reaching staff, alongside happier reports of helpful service. The official website lists reception hours of 9am–2pm, so arrange arrival access beforehand. There is no elevator, and some bathroom layouts favor theatrical design over practical showering. Confirm breakfast rather than assuming it's included. We'd skip it for mobility needs, dependable round-the-clock assistance or reliably polished rooms.

• Best for: independent sightseeing couples; short stays focused on central Rome

• Watch out for: stairs with no elevator; limited reception and arrival coordination; uneven cleaning and bathroom upkeep

• Location: Steps from the Pantheon, with major historic-center sights and restaurants walkable.

• Rooms: Individually styled rooms and comfortable beds; bathroom practicality and maintenance vary.

• Cleanliness: Many positive reports, but repeated recent complaints about dirty bathrooms and mold warrant caution.

• Service: Staff can be helpful, but reception officially operates 9am–2pm and after-hours responsiveness draws complaints.

• Amenities: Air conditioning and free Wi-Fi; guesthouse facilities rather than a full-service hotel.

• Fees and surprises: Arrange arrival access in advance and confirm breakfast availability; recent guests report conflicting breakfast information.
