Axel's take: 8.8/10

Warm service and generous leisure facilities make this a strong all-rounder in Boa Viagem. a large 4-star convention hotel with resort-style pools in Boa Viagem, scored for what it is.

Mar Hotel Conventions is a large 4-star business-and-leisure hotel in Recife’s Boa Viagem, and a strong pick for families or travelers wanting an easy airport connection. It belongs to Pontes Hotéis & Resorts, rather than Accor. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and breakfast, especially the freshly made tapioca. The landscaped pool complex gives it more holiday appeal than a typical convention hotel, and the beach is about 300 meters away.

The trade-offs are less consistent soundproofing and some uneven room condition: guests mention noise and occasional maintenance issues, alongside praise for refreshed rooms. Parking costs extra, and this is neither beachfront nor a base for walking around historic Recife. We'd choose it for friendly service and substantial facilities rather than boutique character or guaranteed quiet.

Best for: families who want pools and beach access; business and conference travelers; travelers prioritizing airport convenience
Watch out for: variable soundproofing; some rooms show their age; parking charged separately
Location: About 300 meters from Boa Viagem Beach and 3 kilometers from the airport; around 10 kilometers from central Recife.
Rooms: Comfortable beds draw praise; refreshed rooms coexist with reports of older fittings and imperfect soundproofing.
Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and frequent praise for housekeeping outweigh occasional reported lapses.
Service: Friendly, attentive staff are the clearest recurring strength across review sites.
Amenities: Landscaped pools, children's facilities, a gym, restaurants and extensive convention spaces.
Fees and surprises: Parking is extra; the property is near the beach, not on it, and belongs to Pontes rather than Accor.
