Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong couples’ all-inclusive with standout staff, but not uniformly polished luxury. an upscale adults-only beachfront all-inclusive resort, scored for what it is.

Secrets Royal Beach is an upscale adults-only all-inclusive on Bávaro Beach, and we'd shortlist it for couples wanting pool time with evening entertainment. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the friendly staff, clean grounds and comfortable suites. Multiple pools and plentiful dining options make it easy to settle in, while Preferred Club adds exclusive pools and a lazy river.

The experience is stronger than the finer details: some rooms show wear, and food gets less consistent praise than service. Beach vendors and vacation-club pitches can interrupt the relaxation, and several attractive areas require Preferred Club. Nearby Dreams Royal Beach guestroom renovations are scheduled through October 31, 2026; ask about noise and room placement. We'd skip it for guaranteed quiet or consistently high-end dining.

• Best for: couples wanting relaxation and entertainment; adults who prioritize pools and attentive service; Preferred Club pool enthusiasts

• Watch out for: Preferred Club restrictions; beach vendors and vacation-club pitches; nearby Dreams renovations through October 31, 2026

• Location: Directly on Bávaro Beach; an attractive setting, though vendors can be persistent.

• Rooms: Comfortable, spacious suites with outdoor space; some guests find the finishes dated.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength, with strong praise for rooms and well-maintained grounds.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff earn widespread praise, despite occasional service lapses.

• Amenities: Multiple pools, entertainment, gym and spa; the lazy river and certain pools require Preferred Club.

• Fees and surprises: Preferred Club upgrades, spa treatments and airport transport cost extra; check neighboring renovation noise.
