Axel's take: 9.1/10

A standout family all-inclusive, especially if pools matter more than perfect ocean swimming. a luxury, family-friendly all-inclusive resort on Juanillo Beach, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana is a luxury, family-friendly all-inclusive that earns its strong reputation through attentive staff, well-kept suites and plenty to do. Tripadvisor and recent Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness and warm service, with food earning broadly positive feedback too. We'd put it high on the list for families who want a water park, generous pools and organized entertainment without leaving the resort. Adults can also use neighboring Hyatt Zilara's facilities.

The main compromises are outside the room: repeated reports describe early-morning competition for pool loungers, while seaweed and murky shallows can disappoint ocean swimmers despite cleanup efforts. Pools are unheated, so shaded swim-up rooms deserve thought in cooler months. All-inclusive isn't all-inclusive everywhere: transfers, spa treatments, cabanas and The Blind Butcher cost extra. We'd skip it for guaranteed clear-water swimming or an entirely adults-only atmosphere.

• Best for: families with school-age children; multigenerational resort vacations; pool and water-park enthusiasts

• Watch out for: early competition for pool loungers; variable seaweed and ocean clarity; unheated pools and shaded swim-ups

• Location: On Juanillo Beach in gated Cap Cana, approximately 15 minutes from Punta Cana airport.

• Rooms: Spacious contemporary suites draw strong praise; shaded swim-up pools can feel chilly.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong feedback for housekeeping, clean rooms and maintained grounds.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are a recurring highlight across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Amenities: Water park, lazy river, kids club and substantial gym; guests 18 and older can access neighboring Zilara.

• Fees and surprises: Transfers, spa, cabanas and The Blind Butcher are extra; gratuities are included, and a card hold may apply.
