#4 of 9 hotels in Bolhão & Santa Catarina by Axel's take. Bolhão & Santa Catarina is #1 of 8 places to stay in Porto. The best hotels in Bolhão & Santa Catarina, ranked · Where to stay in Porto

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong central base that gets the budget-hotel essentials right. a no-frills 2-star in Porto’s historic center, scored for what it is.

Moov Hotel Porto Centro is a no-frills 2-star in a former Art Deco cinema on Praça da Batalha. It’s a strong pick for exploring Porto without paying for facilities you won’t use. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests consistently praise the cleanliness, helpful reception staff and convenient location. The cinema history adds character, but the appeal is practical: comfortable beds, straightforward rooms and good value for a central stay.

The trade-off is space and extras. Standard rooms measure just 15 square meters, and guests repeatedly note the lack of a fridge or kettle. Water-refill stations are a useful substitute, not a full solution. Breakfast costs extra, and the reservable underground garage has a notably tight entrance. We’d skip it for a spacious, full-service stay; for a sightseeing break, it delivers.

  • Best for: budget-conscious couples; solo sightseeing trips; short city breaks

  • Watch out for: compact standard rooms; no in-room fridge or kettle; tight garage entrance

  • Location: Central Batalha Square setting near sights and São Bento; expect steep approaches on foot.

  • Rooms: Minimalist standard rooms are 15 square meters; larger family categories are available.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest reviews, with particularly strong Expedia scores.

  • Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are repeatedly praised; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, water-refill stations, a lounge, patio and optional buffet breakfast.

  • Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; reserve parking ahead and check vehicle suitability.
