#5 of 9 hotels in Aliados & Clérigos by Axel's take. Aliados & Clérigos is #2 of 8 places to stay in Porto. The best hotels in Aliados & Clérigos, ranked · Where to stay in Porto

Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong luxury sightseeing base, with standout staff and nearby construction to check. a historic five-star city hotel in central Porto, scored for what it is.

This five-star hotel in an 18th-century palace is a strong pick for exploring Porto without sacrificing comfort. São Bento is just nearby, and the main historic sights are walkable. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and cleanliness; breakfast is another consistent strength. We'd choose it for a polished city break where location and thoughtful service matter most.

The main caveat is the Pink Line metro project around Praça da Liberdade: guests reported construction outside in 2026, and Expedia still warns of nearby building works. Check current noise and access arrangements before choosing a square-facing room. Parking costs extra, and breakfast depends on your booking. We'd skip it if an undisturbed setting matters more than being in the middle of town.

  • Best for: first-time Porto visitors; couples on a luxury city break; travelers who value concierge service

  • Watch out for: nearby metro and building works; paid parking; breakfast not included in every booking

  • Location: Excellent sightseeing base beside São Bento and Avenida dos Aliados, within walking distance of the historic center.

  • Rooms: Guests consistently praise spacious, comfortable rooms; check construction exposure before requesting square views.

  • Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent guest reviews and major booking-site category ratings.

  • Service: Warm, attentive staff and helpful concierges are among the most consistent positives.

  • Amenities: Astória restaurant, a bar and a wellness center with sauna and treatments; IHG currently lists a fitness partnership.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and pets incur charges; confirm breakfast inclusion and current construction-related access or noise.
