#1 of 6 hotels in St. Olavs Plass & Holbergs Plass by Axel's take. St. Olavs Plass & Holbergs Plass is #4 of 12 places to stay in Oslo. The best hotels in St. Olavs Plass & Holbergs Plass, ranked · Where to stay in Oslo

Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong Oslo base for space and breakfast, with nearby building work the main caveat. A mid-range apartment hotel beside Oslo’s Royal Palace park, scored for what it is.

Thon Hotel Slottsparken is a mid-range apartment hotel beside the Royal Palace park, and a strong pick for travelers who want space and a central base rather than luxury. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous breakfast, helpful staff and roomy accommodation. Cleanliness is generally well rated, too. Apartments and selected rooms have kitchens or kitchenettes, making this particularly practical for families and longer stays; check your exact room category before booking.

The main caveat is neighboring renovation work: the hotel warns of possible noise from 7am–7pm weekdays and 9am–3pm Saturdays. Light sleepers planning lie-ins should look elsewhere until that finishes. Some guests also report warm rooms or uneven room condition, though these are minority complaints against a strongly positive overall picture. We'd choose it for practical comfort and breakfast, not a flawless luxury finish.

  • Best for: Families wanting extra space; Longer stays with kitchen facilities; Sightseers who prioritize breakfast

  • Watch out for: Neighboring renovation noise, including Saturdays; Some rooms can feel warm; Kitchen facilities vary by room category

  • Location: Beside the palace park, with central sights and Nationaltheatret transport within walking distance.

  • Rooms: Generous space is a recurring strength; confirm kitchen facilities and layout for your category.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, without a consistent recent pattern of serious housekeeping problems.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful reception and breakfast staff earn repeated praise across sites.

  • Amenities: Included buffet breakfast, gym, free Wi-Fi, lobby coffee and an evening beer-and-wine bar.

  • Fees and surprises: On-site parking is limited and charged; neighboring renovation work may cause daytime noise.
