#4 of 9 hotels in Karl Johan & Stortinget by Axel's take. Karl Johan & Stortinget is #1 of 12 places to stay in Oslo. The best hotels in Karl Johan & Stortinget, ranked · Where to stay in Oslo
Axel's take: 8.1/10
Excellent breakfast and a central address make up for basic rooms, but not nighttime noise. a simple 3-star annex sharing Karl Johan Hotel’s reception and breakfast, scored for what it is.
Karl Johans gate 35 is the simpler, 3-star annex associated with Karl Johan Hotel, not the same room experience as the smarter main hotel. It’s a strong pick for exploring Oslo on foot: Parliament, shopping and public transport are close, and breakfast is a genuine selling point. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the generous spread, helpful staff and clean, comfortable beds. We’d choose it for a short, sightseeing-heavy stay.
The trade-off is the accommodation itself: budget rooms can be small, bathrooms dated, and rooms lack air-conditioning. Tripadvisor and Booking.com guests repeatedly flag late-night music and street noise, so request a room away from nightlife. Some glowing reviews follow upgrades into the main hotel; don’t assume that’s what you’re booking. Light sleepers and travelers needing step-free access should look elsewhere.
