Axel's take: 8.5/10

A strong-value Queens base for sightseeing, with cleaner rooms than surroundings. a straightforward 3-star hotel in Queens with easy subway access, scored for what it is.

This straightforward 3-star in Long Island City is a strong pick if you want comfortable basics and Manhattan access without paying for a Manhattan address. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff, with recent Tripadvisor reviews reinforcing that picture. Included breakfast and a 24-hour gym add practical value, and the subway is roughly a five-minute walk away.

The main compromise is the immediate neighborhood, not the hotel itself: guests describe street litter and mixed comfort walking around, particularly after dark, while others report no problems. Breakfast is useful rather than a reason to book, and some guests find the selection repetitive. We'd choose it for sightseeing days and a dependable place to sleep; skip it if you want an attractive neighborhood for evening wandering. Confirm Wi-Fi terms and parking arrangements before arrival.

• Best for: value-minded NYC sightseers; travelers comfortable using the subway; couples wanting clean, practical rooms

• Watch out for: immediate neighborhood divides opinion; breakfast selection can feel repetitive; parking availability is unclear

• Location: Roughly five minutes from 21 St.–Queensbridge station; convenient transit, but limited neighborhood appeal.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, mini-fridges and coffee makers; some rooms have Manhattan views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Tripadvisor feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn repeated praise across sites.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, a 24-hour gym, business center and luggage storage cover the essentials.

• Fees and surprises: Refundable card deposit required; Wyndham specifies free Wi-Fi for Rewards members, and parking information conflicts.
