Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong Midtown base for room space and old-school character, not contemporary polish. a historic 4-star hotel in Midtown Manhattan, scored for what it is.

Warwick New York is a historic 4-star hotel whose strongest assets are practical: a central Midtown address, generously sized rooms by Manhattan standards, and helpful staff. We'd pick it for sightseeing, museum visits and theater trips rather than cutting-edge luxury. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the location, comfortable rooms and welcoming service, with cleanliness generally a strength.

The trade-off is age: recurring feedback describes dated furnishings and bathrooms, and some guests report weak shower pressure. The hotel also charges a nightly facility fee on applicable bookings, while valet parking is expensive. These drawbacks don't outweigh the location and space, but they temper the four-star promise. We'd skip it if fresh interiors and sleek bathrooms matter more than historic character and an easy sightseeing base.

• Best for: first-time Manhattan sightseers; travelers who prioritize room space; fans of traditional hotels

• Watch out for: dated furnishings and bathrooms; some reports of weak shower pressure; facility fee and expensive valet parking

• Location: Walkable Midtown base near MoMA, Central Park, Rockefeller Center and subway stations.

• Rooms: Good space for Manhattan; comfortable but traditionally furnished, with some dated bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across recent reviews; isolated housekeeping delays do not define the overall picture.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across guest-review sites.

• Amenities: Fitness center, breakfast restaurant and bar/lounge; breakfast is not universally included.

• Fees and surprises: Nightly facility fee applies to many bookings; confirm any exemption and budget separately for valet parking.
