Axel's take: 8.2/10

A stylish Broadway base, but compact rooms and street noise temper the luxury. a design-led 5-star hotel in the heart of Times Square, scored for what it is.

The Times Square EDITION is a design-led 5-star hotel best chosen for a theater-focused trip, not a quiet Manhattan escape. We'd pick it for its polished interiors, garden terraces and easy access to Broadway. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise cleanliness and helpful staff, particularly the concierge and door teams. The restaurant and lobby bar give it appeal beyond simply sleeping near the theaters.

The compromise is that standard rooms can feel compact and understated for this level of luxury. Noise complaints recur across sites, including from higher floors, although other guests report quiet nights. Service earns strong praise overall, with occasional lapses rather than consistently flawless delivery. A mandatory destination fee further weakens the value. We'd skip it if generous room space or dependable nighttime quiet matters more than design and location.

• Best for: Broadway-focused couples; Design-conscious city breakers; Travelers who enjoy hotel bars

• Watch out for: Street noise can reach higher floors; Compact standard rooms; Mandatory destination fee

• Location: Excellent for Broadway and nearby subway stations; the surrounding streets are intensely busy.

• Rooms: Modern, minimalist rooms with comfortable beds; compact layouts and variable sound insulation are recurring trade-offs.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness feedback across sites outweighs occasional housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Door staff and concierge receive repeated praise, though some guests report uneven follow-through.

• Amenities: Garden terraces, restaurant, lobby bar and fitness center; Paradise Club operates on select nights.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a mandatory nightly destination fee; breakfast is not universally included, and parking is off-site.
