A stylish Flatiron base, with stronger character than service consistency. a design-led five-star in a landmark Flatiron clocktower, scored for what it is.

The New York EDITION is a design-led five-star in a historic clocktower beside Madison Square Park. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want understated rooms and a sociable bar rather than traditional grand-hotel formality. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, comfortable beds, city views and the neighborhood; the overall feedback is strongly positive, although Booking.com’s smaller sample is notably less enthusiastic.

The trade-off is consistency at luxury expectations. Recent Tripadvisor reviews mix warm, responsive hospitality with less attentive front-desk encounters, while some guests mention room wear and noise. The lively lobby won’t suit everyone seeking a quiet evening, and Expedia lists a mandatory nightly destination fee. We’d choose it for a stylish couples’ or work trip, but skip it if flawless service matters more than design and location.

• Best for: design-minded couples; Flatiron and NoMad work trips; travelers who enjoy a lively hotel bar

• Watch out for: mandatory nightly destination fee; uneven service for the luxury class; lively lobby and occasional room-noise reports

• Location: Beside Madison Square Park, with Flatiron dining and several subway stations nearby.

• Rooms: Understated interiors and comfortable beds draw praise; views and spaciousness vary by room category.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Tripadvisor and Expedia, though Booking.com’s smaller sample is less glowing.

• Service: Many guests praise friendly, helpful staff, but recent reviews also describe front-desk and follow-through lapses.

• Amenities: The Clocktower restaurant, cocktail bars, a fitness center and a spa with two treatment rooms.

• Fees and surprises: Nightly destination fee; parking and pets cost extra, and parking has no in-and-out privileges.
