Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong sightseeing base, with clean rooms but crowded breakfasts and uneven soundproofing. a practical mid-range Midtown hotel with studio-style suites, scored for what it is.

This practical mid-range Midtown hotel is a strong pick for travelers who prioritize sightseeing over hotel atmosphere. Bryant Park, Herald Square and the Empire State Building are within easy walking distance. Expedia and Booking.com guests consistently praise cleanliness, comfortable beds and helpful staff, while microwaves, mini-fridges and included breakfast make it a convenient city base. Think functional studio-style rooms rather than sprawling suites.

The clearest drawback is the cramped breakfast area: guests across several sites describe queues and too little seating. Room size and condition vary, with some recent visitors finding furnishings worn. Noise reports are mixed, but street sound and loud air-conditioning recur often enough to matter to light sleepers. We'd choose it for days spent exploring, not for spacious rooms, polished surroundings or reliably quiet nights.

• Best for: first-time Manhattan visitors; couples on sightseeing trips; travelers who value included breakfast

• Watch out for: crowded breakfast room; variable street and air-conditioning noise; compact rooms with some worn furnishings

• Location: Excellent walking base near Bryant Park, Herald Square, major sights and subway connections.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds, microwaves and mini-fridges; space and furnishing condition draw mixed feedback.

• Cleanliness: Generally a strength across booking-site ratings and recent guest accounts.

• Service: Mostly praised as helpful and welcoming, though some recent guests report indifferent front-desk service.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, a fitness room and business facilities; breakfast seating is limited.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is off-site and charged, with no in/out privileges; the hotel provides no airport shuttle.
