Axel's take: 8.2/10

A strong Manhattan alternative for room space and skyline views, rather than modern polish. a mid-range waterfront hotel across the Hudson from Manhattan, scored for what it is.

Sheraton Lincoln Harbor is a mid-range waterfront hotel in Weehawken, and we'd pick it for spacious rooms and easy Manhattan access rather than up-to-date interiors. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the skyline views, comfortable rooms and ferry dock beside the hotel. Cleanliness earns strong overall marks, and recent feedback on staff is mostly positive. It's a particularly practical base if you want to leave the car parked while sightseeing.

The trade-off is an aging property: dated furnishings, dim rooms and noisy air-conditioning recur in reviews, while problem handling gets less consistent praise. Parking and breakfast add to the bill, and Manhattan trips require transport rather than a walk outside. Some Expedia listings still flag neighboring construction; confirm its status before booking. Marriott lists an indoor pool requiring reservations at check-in. We'd skip it if contemporary rooms or walking home from Broadway matter most.

• Best for: families wanting more room; Manhattan visitors comfortable using ferries and buses; travelers seeking skyline views

• Watch out for: dated interiors and occasional noisy air-conditioning; parking, breakfast and transport costs; neighboring-construction warning on some Expedia listings

• Location: Waterfront setting beside the Manhattan ferry, with buses and light rail nearby.

• Rooms: Generously sized and generally comfortable; dated decor and dim lighting draw recurring criticism.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and frequent recent praise outweigh scattered housekeeping complaints.

• Service: Recent guests mostly praise welcoming staff, though complaint handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Italian restaurant, 24-hour gym and indoor heated pool; Marriott requires pool reservations at check-in.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, breakfast and pets cost extra; confirm construction status and direct-booking/member Wi-Fi eligibility.
