Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong Broadway base with roomy accommodation, but not consistently polished four-star comfort. a full-service 4-star in the heart of Times Square, scored for what it is.

This full-service 4-star puts Broadway and Times Square convenience ahead of a quiet neighborhood setting. It’s a strong pick for theater trips: Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the unusually spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. Recent cleanliness feedback is largely positive, despite some contrary reports. Marriott confirms a renovated lobby and the reopened Bowtie Bar, whose Times Square views give you a reason to linger downstairs.

The refresh doesn’t mean every bedroom feels new. Dated bathrooms, worn finishes and uneven reception service recur in guest feedback, while some report corridor or plumbing noise despite others finding rooms surprisingly quiet. Reaching bedrooms involves changing elevators at the upper-level lobby, an awkward arrangement with luggage. You pay for the location more than flawless finishes; we’d skip it for a peaceful neighborhood stay or consistently high-end rooms.

• Best for: Broadway theater trips; first-time New York visitors; travelers prioritizing room space

• Watch out for: uneven room and bathroom condition; two-stage elevator access; Times Square crowds outside

• Location: Excellent for theaters and Midtown sightseeing, with the 49th Street subway nearby.

• Rooms: Generous space for Manhattan and comfortable beds; dated finishes and noise vary by room.

• Cleanliness: Mostly praised across current reviews, though individual housekeeping complaints remain.

• Service: Many guests praise helpful staff, but reception experiences are less consistent.

• Amenities: Reopened Bowtie Bar with Times Square views, a grab-and-go market and a 24-hour gym.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast, valet parking and pets cost extra; complimentary room Wi-Fi has booking and membership conditions.
