Axel's take: 7.6/10

A characterful Harlem base, but service consistency doesn’t always match the style. a stylish 4-star hotel on Harlem’s busy 125th Street, scored for what it is.

This stylish 4-star is a good pick if Harlem is central to your trip, rather than somewhere you’ll visit once. The neighborhood-inspired decor and lively Victoria restaurant/bar give it personality, with subway connections nearby. Expedia’s strong overall rating and recent guests’ praise for friendly staff and clean rooms make a convincing case, though Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed.

The compromises are compact rooms, limited storage and recurring reports of uneven housekeeping; recent guests also mention missing in-room refrigerators. Check the daily destination fee and confirm its benefits before booking. Next door, the historic Apollo Theater remains under renovation, with public reopening planned for spring 2027. We’d skip this for a spacious, reliably polished upscale stay or a trip focused mainly on Midtown.

• Best for: travelers focusing on Harlem; couples comfortable with compact rooms; visitors who enjoy a lively hotel bar

• Watch out for: compact rooms and limited bathroom counter space; uneven housekeeping and missing room refrigerators; destination fee and neighboring Apollo renovation

• Location: Strong for Harlem dining and culture, with 125th Street subway connections nearby.

• Rooms: Distinctive decor, but several recent guests find rooms small and report no refrigerator.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised on Expedia, although housekeeping consistency draws complaints across sites.

• Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise; room-readiness and restaurant delays temper the picture.

• Amenities: Victoria restaurant/bar, weekend jazz and a complimentary sixth-floor fitness center.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee; confirm current inclusions, as recent guests report advertised benefits unavailable. Parking is off-site.
