Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong Midtown base where attentive staff outweigh small rooms and limited extras. A compact 4-star boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan, scored for what it is.

Pestana Park Avenue is a compact 4-star boutique hotel that gets the important things right: cleanliness, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful service. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise those basics, while Booking.com also scores staff and location especially highly. With Grand Central and Bryant Park a short walk away, it’s a strong pick for travelers who want to explore Manhattan rather than spend their days inside the hotel.

The main compromise is space: standard rooms are small, with limited room for luggage. Morning bagels and pastries are useful, but this is a simple self-service setup, not a substantial hotel breakfast. There’s also a mandatory nightly resort fee despite the modest facilities; the hotel lists fitness access at another Pestana property. We’d skip it if you need generous rooms or extensive on-site amenities.

• Best for: Couples traveling light; Solo sightseeing trips; Business travelers using Grand Central

• Watch out for: Small standard rooms and limited luggage space; Mandatory nightly resort fee; Simple breakfast and off-site fitness access

• Location: Walkable Midtown setting near Grand Central, Bryant Park and Fifth Avenue.

• Rooms: Modern and comfortable but compact; some upgraded rooms have balconies or skyline views.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong praise across recent Tripadvisor, Expedia and Booking.com feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are a recurring highlight across sources.

• Amenities: Round-the-clock coffee, tea and water; morning pastries; fitness access is off-site.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory nightly resort fee; partner parking is across the street, not on-site.
