Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong Chelsea base if you pack light and accept the destination fee. a design-led Chelsea micro-hotel, not a full-service luxury stay, scored for what it is.

Motto is a design-led Chelsea micro-hotel: a strong pick for travelers who prioritize location, cleanliness and style over floor space. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, well-kept rooms and easy subway access. High-floor landmark-view rooms earn particular enthusiasm, while the restaurant, bar and guest lounge give you somewhere to unwind outside the compact bedrooms.

The small-room concept is the main compromise, not an occasional unlucky assignment. Expect clever storage rather than generous unpacking space; some layouts put the sink outside the bathroom, which won't suit every sharing arrangement. Hilton also confirms a mandatory daily destination charge, a recurring irritation in Tripadvisor reviews despite its included perks. We'd choose it for a city-focused short stay, but skip it if spacious rooms, bathroom privacy or fee-free simplicity matter most.

• Best for: solo travelers packing light; couples on sightseeing breaks; travelers prioritizing Chelsea and subway access

• Watch out for: compact rooms and limited luggage space; mandatory daily destination charge; bedroom-area sinks in some layouts

• Location: Walkable Chelsea–Flatiron base, close to restaurants, Madison Square Park and subway stations.

• Rooms: Modern, compact rooms with clever storage; high-floor landmark views are a recurring highlight.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and recent Expedia feedback.

• Service: Friendly, accommodating staff draw repeated praise, with occasional less enthusiastic reports.

• Amenities: Italian restaurant Lulla, espresso bar, guest lounge, fitness center and connecting-room options.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory destination charge includes selected perks; parking is off-site and costs extra.
