Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong waterfront base for downtown Manhattan, less convenient for Midtown-heavy trips. a renovated 4-star waterfront business hotel beside the PATH, scored for what it is.

This renovated 4-star waterfront hotel is a strong pick for Manhattan views without sleeping in Manhattan. The PATH station is right outside, making downtown access its biggest practical advantage. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The refreshed public spaces and waterfront restaurant give it more appeal than a purely functional business hotel.

The trade-off is the daily crossing: we'd skip it for a Midtown-heavy itinerary with frequent hotel breaks. Service earns plenty of praise, but check-in and problem handling draw some complaints. Breakfast generally costs extra, and parking is offsite with no in-and-out privileges. Confirm the exact view category before booking, and check pool availability: an August 2026 guest reported a temporary closure, while Hyatt's current amenities list omits it.

• Best for: downtown Manhattan business trips; couples seeking skyline views; travelers wanting a waterfront base

• Watch out for: extra travel for Midtown sightseeing; paid offsite parking without in-and-out privileges; pool availability needs confirmation

• Location: Waterfront promenade, nearby restaurants and the Exchange Place PATH station right outside.

• Rooms: Renovated, generally spacious and comfortable; choose the view category carefully.

• Cleanliness: A strong overall signal in recent Expedia reviews, despite occasional housekeeping lapses.

• Service: Mostly praised, especially restaurant staff; some guests report uneven front-desk problem handling.

• Amenities: Waterfront restaurant, 24-hour gym and free Wi-Fi; current pool availability is unclear.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast usually extra; paid offsite parking has no in-and-out privileges, and check-in includes an incidental hold.
