Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong Midtown base, with clean rooms but slow elevators and limited space. a modern 4-star Midtown hotel with compact rooms and a rooftop bar, scored for what it is.

This modern 4-star near Bryant Park is a strong pick for travelers who prioritize location over sprawling rooms or extensive facilities. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise cleanliness, helpful staff and the convenience of walking to Grand Central and major sights. We'd choose it as a comfortable sightseeing or work-trip base rather than a luxury retreat. The Italian restaurant and rooftop bar add appeal without making this a full-service resort.

The compromises are practical: many rooms are compact, storage can be limited, and elevator waits recur across guest accounts. Service earns plenty of praise, though housekeeping follow-through and problem handling are less consistent. Hyatt also confirms a daily destination fee. We'd skip it if generous unpacking space, quick elevator access or extensive amenities matter more than a central address.

• Best for: couples on sightseeing trips; Midtown business travelers; travelers prioritizing walkability

• Watch out for: recurring elevator waits; compact rooms and limited storage; daily destination fee

• Location: Convenient for Bryant Park, Fifth Avenue and Grand Central; location is a consistent guest favorite.

• Rooms: Modern and generally comfortable, but room sizes vary and storage can feel tight.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews.

• Service: Staff receive frequent praise, with some recurring lapses in follow-through and issue resolution.

• Amenities: Italian restaurant, rooftop bar and a 24-hour gym; better for an urban base than a facilities-led stay.

• Fees and surprises: Daily destination fee applies; breakfast and off-site parking cost extra.
